In this eerie thriller, Clair, a Manhattan writer fresh off a messy divorce, ends up back at the mysterious Maine community where she grew up. Pressured by her friend Isolda, she follows a slim lead to the old commune where she spent her childhood, searching for answers about her past. Her curiosity unravels a deep-rooted conspiracy about her traumatic childhood and the untimely death of her mother, and a few of the locals aren’t so keen to let her investigate. Over the next 48 hours, Clair must deal with an increasingly dangerous present while delving into the murky past. As she comes face to face with the toxic legacy that has been buried beneath the town-- literally and figuratively-- she also has a series of strange encounters with the enigmatic Frank Byron. But in Frank, Clair ultimately finds her only ally in what will become a battle to redeem the crimes of the past and protect their future.
